This sacred hymn is a profound devotional offering to Lord Vishnu, the supreme sustainer and protector of the universe. It glorifies his divine attributes, such as his radiant form, his role as the destroyer of demons, and his embodiment of eternal bliss and consciousness. The verses describe him as the one who resides in the cosmic ocean, adorned with celestial weapons like the Sudarshana Chakra and the mace, and accompanied Goddess Lakshmi. He is praised as the source of liberation, the bridge across the three worlds, and the ultimate refuge for devotees. Verse 1

Sanskrit:
जगज्जालपालं चलत्कण्ठमालं शरच्चन्द्रभालं महादैत्यकालं
नभोनीलकायं दुरावारमायं सुपद्मासहायम् भजेऽहं भजेऽहं॥1॥

Transliteration:
Jagajjālapālaṁ calatkaṇṭhamālaṁ śaraccandrabhālaṁ mahādaityakālaṁ
nabhonīlakāyaṁ durāvāramāyaṁ supadmāsahāyam bhaje’haṁ bhaje’haṁ ||1||

Hindi Meaning:
जगत के जाल के पालनहार, गले में चलती माला धारण करने वाले, शरद ऋतु के चंद्रमा के समान मस्तक वाले, महान दैत्यों के संहारक, आकाश के समान नीले शरीर वाले, जिनकी माया को पार करना कठिन है, और जो पद्मा (लक्ष्मी) के साथ विराजमान हैं, उनकी मैं भक्ति करता हूँ, मैं भक्ति करता हूँ।

English Meaning:
I worship the one who sustains the world, who wears a moving garland around his neck, whose forehead shines like the autumn moon, who is the destroyer of great demons, whose body is as blue as the sky, whose Maya is difficult to overcome, and who is accompanied Padma (Goddess Lakshmi). I worship him, I worship him.

Verse 2

Sanskrit:
सदाम्भोधिवासं गलत्पुष्पहासं जगत्सन्निवासं शतादित्यभासं
गदाचक्रशस्त्रं लसत्पीतवस्त्रं हसच्चारुवक्त्रं भजेऽहं भजेऽहं॥2॥

Transliteration:
Sadāmbhodhivāsaṁ galatpuṣpahāsaṁ jagatsannivāsaṁ śatādityabhāsaṁ
gadācakraśastraṁ lasatpītavastraṁ hasaccāruvaktraṁ bhaje’haṁ bhaje’haṁ ||2||

Hindi Meaning:
जो सदा समुद्र में निवास करते हैं, जिनके मुख से गिरते हुए फूलों की हंसी है, जो संपूर्ण जगत में व्याप्त हैं, जिनका तेज सौ सूर्यों के समान है, जो गदा और चक्र को शस्त्र के रूप में धारण करते हैं, जो पीले वस्त्र पहनते हैं, और जिनका मुख सुंदर और हंसमुख है, उनकी मैं भक्ति करता हूँ, मैं भक्ति करता हूँ।

English Meaning:
I worship the one who always resides in the ocean, whose smile is like falling flowers, who pervades the entire universe, whose radiance is like a hundred suns, who holds the mace and discus as weapons, who wears yellow garments, and whose face is charming and smiling. I worship him, I worship him.

Verse 3

Sanskrit:
रमाकण्ठहारं श्रुतिव्रातसारं जलान्तर्विहारं धराभारहारं
चिदानन्दरूपं मनोज्ञस्वरूपं ध्रुतानेकरूपं भजेऽहं भजेऽहं॥3॥

Transliteration:
Ramākaṇṭhahāraṁ śrutivrātasāraṁ jalāntarvihāraṁ dharābhārahāraṁ
cidānandarūpaṁ manojñasvarūpaṁ dhṛtānekarūpaṁ bhaje’haṁ bhaje’haṁ ||3||

Hindi Meaning:
जो रमा (लक्ष्मी) के कंठ का हार हैं, वेदों के समूह का सार हैं, जल के भीतर विहार करने वाले हैं, पृथ्वी के भार को हरने वाले हैं, चेतना और आनंद के स्वरूप हैं, मनोहर स्वरूप हैं, और अनेक रूप धारण करने वाले हैं, उनकी मैं भक्ति करता हूँ, मैं भक्ति करता हूँ।

English Meaning:
I worship the one who is the ornament around Lakshmi’s neck, the essence of the Vedas, who sports in the waters, who removes the burden of the earth, who is the embodiment of consciousness and bliss, whose form is enchanting, and who assumes many forms. I worship him, I worship him.

Verse 4

Sanskrit:
जराजन्महीनं परानन्दपीनं समाधानलीनं सदैवानवीनं
जगज्जन्महेतुं सुरानीककेतुं त्रिलोकैकसेतुं भजेऽहं भजेऽहं॥4॥

Transliteration:
Jarājanmahīnaṁ parānandapīnaṁ samādhānalīnaṁ sadaivānavīnaṁ
jagajjanmahetuṁ surānīkaketuṁ trilokaikasetuṁ bhaje’haṁ bhaje’haṁ ||4||

Hindi Meaning:
जो बुढ़ापे और जन्म से रहित हैं, परम आनंद से परिपूर्ण हैं, समाधि में लीन हैं, सदा नवीन हैं, जो जगत के जन्म के कारण हैं, देवताओं के समूह के ध्वजा हैं, और तीनों लोकों के एकमात्र सेतु हैं, उनकी मैं भक्ति करता हूँ, मैं भक्ति करता हूँ।

English Meaning:
I worship the one who is free from old age and birth, who is full of supreme bliss, who is absorbed in meditation, who is ever new, who is the cause of the creation of the world, who is the banner of the hosts of gods, and who is the sole bridge across the three worlds. Verse 5

Sanskrit:
कृताम्नायगानं खगाधीशयानं विमुक्तेर्निदानं हरारातिमानं
स्वभक्तानुकूलं जगद्व्रुक्षमूलं निरस्तार्तशूलं भजेऽहं भजेऽहं॥5॥

Transliteration:
Kṛtāmnāyagānaṁ khagādhīśayānaṁ vimukternidānaṁ harārātimānaṁ
svabhaktānukūlaṁ jagadvṛkṣamūlaṁ nirastārtaśūlaṁ bhaje’haṁ bhaje’haṁ ||5||

Hindi Meaning:
जो वेदों के गान करने वाले हैं, गरुड़ पर सवार हैं, मोक्ष के मूल कारण हैं, हरि के शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले हैं, अपने भक्तों के अनुकूल हैं, जगत के वृक्ष के मूल हैं, और दुःख के कांटे को दूर करने वाले हैं, उनकी मैं भक्ति करता हूँ, मैं भक्ति करता हूँ।

English Meaning:
I worship the one who is praised the Vedas, who rides on Garuda, who is the root cause of liberation, who destroys the enemies of Hari, who is favorable to his devotees, who is the root of the world tree, and who removes the thorns of suffering. I worship him, I worship him.

Verse 6

Sanskrit:
समस्तामरेशं द्विरेफाभकेशं जगद्विम्बलेशं ह्रुदाकाशदेशं
सदा दिव्यदेहं विमुक्ताखिलेहं सुवैकुण्ठगेहं भजेऽहं भजेऽहं॥6॥

Transliteration:
Samastāmareśaṁ dvirephābhakeśaṁ jagadvimbaleśaṁ hṛdākāśadeśaṁ
sadā divyadehaṁ vimuktākhilehaṁ suvaikuṇṭhagehaṁ bhaje’haṁ bhaje’haṁ ||6||

Hindi Meaning:
जो सभी देवताओं के स्वामी हैं, जिनके बाल भौंरों के समान हैं, जो जगत के प्रतिबिंब के अंश हैं, जो हृदय रूपी आकाश में निवास करते हैं, जिनका शरीर सदा दिव्य है, जो सभी बंधनों से मुक्त हैं, और जो सुवैकुण्ठ के निवासी हैं, उनकी मैं भक्ति करता हूँ, मैं भक्ति करता हूँ।

English Meaning:
I worship the one who is the lord of all gods, whose hair is like black bees, who is a part of the reflection of the universe, who resides in the sky of the heart, whose body is always divine, who is free from all bonds, and who dwells in Vaikuntha. I worship him, I worship him.

Verse 7

Sanskrit:
सुरालिबलिष्ठं त्रिलोकीवरिष्ठं गुरूणां गरिष्ठं स्वरूपैकनिष्ठं
सदा युद्धधीरं महावीरवीरं महाम्भोधितीरं भजेऽहं भजेऽहं॥7॥

Transliteration:
Surālibaliṣṭhaṁ trilokīvariṣṭhaṁ gurūṇāṁ gariṣṭhaṁ svarūpaikaniṣṭhaṁ
sadā yuddhadhīraṁ mahāvīravīraṁ mahāmbhodhitīraṁ bhaje’haṁ bhaje’haṁ ||7||

Hindi Meaning:
जो देवताओं में सबसे बलशाली हैं, तीनों लोकों में श्रेष्ठ हैं, गुरुओं में सबसे बड़े हैं, अपने स्वरूप में दृढ़ हैं, सदा युद्ध में धैर्यवान हैं, महान वीरों के वीर हैं, और महान समुद्र के तट पर विराजमान हैं, उनकी मैं भक्ति करता हूँ, मैं भक्ति करता हूँ।

English Meaning:
I worship the one who is the strongest among the gods, the greatest in the three worlds, the foremost among gurus, steadfast in his own form, always courageous in battle, the hero among great heroes, and who resides on the shores of the great ocean. I worship him, I worship him.

Verse 8

Sanskrit:
रमावामभागं तलानग्रनागं कृताधीनयागं गतारागरागं
मुनीन्द्रैः सुगीतं सुरैः संपरीतं गुणौधैरतीतं भजेऽहं भजेऽहं॥8॥

Transliteration:
Ramāvāmabhāgaṁ talānagranāgaṁ kṛtādhīnayāgaṁ gatārāgarāgaṁ
munīndraiḥ sugītaṁ suraiḥ saṁparītaṁ guṇaudhairatītaṁ bhaje’haṁ bhaje’haṁ ||8||

Hindi Meaning:
जो रमा (लक्ष्मी) के वाम भाग में विराजमान हैं, जिनके पैरों के नाखूनों पर नागराज शोभायमान हैं, जो यज्ञ के स्वामी हैं, जो सभी आसक्ति से मुक्त हैं, जिनका मुनियों द्वारा सुंदर गान किया जाता है, जो देवताओं से घिरे हैं, और जो गुणों से परे हैं, उनकी मैं भक्ति करता हूँ, मैं भक्ति करता हूँ।

English Meaning:
I worship the one who resides on the left side of Lakshmi, whose toenails are adorned the king of serpents, who is the master of sacrifices, who is free from all attachments, who is beautifully sung sages, who is surrounded gods, and who is beyond all qualities. I worship him, I worship him.
